Using my heritage, I'll take Cantonese phrases (like deep fortune cookie sayings) and transfer them to my life.  (A huge thanks to Interesting Cantonese Colloquial Expressions by Lo Wood Wai & Tam Fee Yin.)

Wuhleihjing: woman of easy virtue, an enchantress (lit. a fox demon).  Stories revolve around women changing from foxes into beautiful women to seduce and control men.

I wrote a fox demon into my current work-in-progress (they call them femme fatales in the Western world).  Sometimes I wonder if I need to be a wuhleihjing to seduce an agent or a publisher.  Then I consider Gladwell's 10,000 hour rule or Stockett's 60 rejections for The Help.  I am most encouraged, though, by the inspirational Jean Kwok and her ten-year odyssey with Girl in Translation.  She believes that "if you make yourself good enough, someone will eventually recognize your talent."

Keep on creating, fellow writers!

I like the theme for your blog. Very interesting and novel. So fox demons are like femme fatales? I'll have to remember the phrase - fox demons. There's something to the way it sounds.
Can't wait for your next entry!

I like the image -- I think I'll have to put a little fox demon into my own thinking. Looking forward to seeing more.
